FESTIVAL SACRED REALISM 2024
DAY 3 of 3 Ahti & Ahti (FI) Marja Ahti - electronics, composition Niko-Matti Ahti - electronics, composition Finnish sound artists and members of the collective HIMERA perform a new piece developed in residence at the solitary Örö Island, a former military base off the Finnish west coast which focuses on acoustic explorations that open up to the materiality of sound within the continuous movement of natural life and the architectural particularities of bunkers and caves. Rasmus Östling (FI) & Adrienne Herr (DE) "Respect & Admiration" ‘Respect and Admiration’ is an indexical project of unfixed formatting, constructed of implementations of various kinds, such as quasi-lectures, listening groups, audio plays, speculative maps, slideshows, tools and multifaceted publications. Taking Red Bull and its Music Academy as its core structure and subject of study, the project aims to pick the low-hanging fruit by questioning and satirizing an overtly problematic channel of expression. "Piriforms" Laura Steenberge, 2010 Performed by vocal ensemble The Present: Olivia Stahn, Hanna Herfurtner, Bernadette Beckermann, Amélie Saadia Doors at 19:30, concert at 20:00 |

Ninja Episkopat
Patrycja Wybrańczyk - drums, Igor Wiśniewski - guitar, Alex Clov - saxophone, electronics Ninja Episkopat is the bastard child of the pandemic, social media, and the all-encompassing boredom we experienced in 2021. “The Slipknot of Polish Jazz”, as some have said. The sound they create is a fusion of electronica, rock, contemporary and improvised music. Their rich musical experiences have borne fruit in which both subtlety and primitivism coexist. In this apparent contradiction, they see the primal urge that begets all jazz music. |

PERFORMATIVE SOUND OBJECTS // AIR.FINITE by Daria Redkina (UA)
LIVE interactions Emanuele Porcinai (IT), Daria Redkina (UA), Pablo Lienhard (CH) Daria Redkina presents ‘Air’Finite’ - a performative sound sculpture that transforms air into a tangible and dynamic medium through an ensemble of weather balloons, each equipped with reeds and played via a custom-built electro-mechanical system. on view: 05.12. Thursday, 17:30-19h, 06.12. Friday, 16:30-20h, 07.12. Saturday,15-19h This piece explores the finiteness of air—the very substance we breathe - and by making air both audible and visually graspable, Air’Finite may encourage us to reflect on the invisible forces that shape our world. On the closing night, 07th December 2024, 20h an extended improv trio will feature Pablo Lienhard on sax, Daria Redkina on amplified reeds and Emanuele Porcinai playing live algorithmic processing of the other two players’ signal. space is limited, donation 10-20 EUR more Information: www.frei-raum.berlin !! please note: NEW LOCATION, (same street, just number 6) |

“Ancestral- creations of the rainbow serpent performative sounds“, by Carlos León Zambrano
"Vasijas Silbadoras" are sound instruments of pre-Columbian origin, with archaeological records going back over 3,000 years. For the exhibition "Ancestral," Zambrano created newly interpreted Vasijas using traditional techniques. These objects represent a transformation between nature and technology, reminiscent of fossils that suggest a life cycle oscillating between humor and psychedelia. The instruments are performatively activated and interpreted by musicians, with the exhibition itself conceived as a social and ritual event. 어우러짐 / Coexistence
Stephen Flinn - percussions & gong Jung-Jae Kim - saxophone Dasom Baek - daegeum (traditional korean flute) Stephen Flinn, Jung-Jae Kim, and Dasom Baek coexist within a shared acoustic space, each bringing their unique backgrounds and cultural perspectives to the forefront. At the intersection of East and West, their music is born from small, delicate, and exquisitely refined sound sources, blending traditions and techniques from different worlds. Together, they cautiously navigate the depths of silence, creating meditative waves and moments of tranquil stillness. Through their interactions—with one another, with the space, and with the present moment—they harmonize diverse energies and sketch a soundscape that bridges their distinct origins, forming a universe both intimate and expansive. |

Aki Takase - piano. |

Warm Winters Ltd. pres. Aleksandra Słyż + Marta Forsberg + Luka Aron
http://www.silent-green.net/ The record label Warm Winters Ltd. is a record label and music studio founded in 2019 and based in Bratislava. Composer Aleksandra Słyż explores the relationships between acoustic and synthetic sounds. This process often starts with natural voice systems, from which she constructs complex drone arrangements that emphasise the power of microtonal, electroacoustic tensions. The work of sound artist Marta Forsberg is based on archival research and deals with themes such as language and human memory. She experiments with the interplay of human and synthesised voices, creating intimate yet ethereal soundscapes. Luka Aron is a musician and composer of electro-acoustic and minimalist music. His work focusses on the fusion of synthetic sounds with acoustic instruments and the combination of electronic intensity with the fragility of human touch. https://www.silent-green.net/en/programme/detail/2025/1/17/warm-winters-ltd-pres-marta-forsberg-luka-aron-aleksandra-slyz Doors: 7 pm / Start: 8 pm |

Echo Collective
Echo Collective is an ensemble of classically trained musicians based in Brussels, founded by Margaret Hermant and Neil Leiter. In addition to their own compositions and projects, the group collaborates with contemporary composers and bands. Their repertoire includes concerts, tours, film music, recording sessions, and original compositions. Their latest album, Mirror Image (2024), delves into contemporary and experimental classical music, merging with captivating soundscapes. Recorded in various acoustic spaces, including historic locations in Italy and Belgium, the album explores acoustic research in immersive environments such as 4DSound in Berlin and DNB Soundscape in Belgium. Inspired by new technological tools, Mirror Image reflects the musical connection and artistic identity shared between Margaret and Neil, blending traditional and innovative elements.
